ham run time

this was created as a running blog. instead, it's about eating and traveling, which i guess is what i'm about.

prague, czech republicshort walk to the train station
i made it out today!  albeit for a very short and slow walk to the train station for a quick dinner and honey cake hunt.
today was another r&r day; i spent most of the day researching and booking hotels for the rest of our honeymoon.  managed to find an affordable (<$300/night) and decent looking hotel in copenhagen!  sadly, and not surprisingly, still no availability at noma.  will give them a call and try to get on the waitlist.  was really curious about trying the “best restaurant in the world”, and trying nordic cuisine instead of the stock frenchyfrench. ah well, can’t have everything.  i have… a lot already. #whitewhine! #firstworldproblems!
speaking of which, i booked our hotel for siem reap and placed a hold on a villa in bali!  no, not villa like one bedroom but villa like a 4 bedroom house with a staff of 8!!!  HEY. HEY FRIENDS.  if any of you want to find your way to bali 11/30-12/3, let me know if you want to stay with us!  srsly.  dead srs.
btw, happy centennial to taiwan <3  i’m loving europe but i’m also starting to get pumped for the asia leg of the honeymoon!  maybe it’s because i miss asian food, or maybe it’s the knowledge that my tiny room in amsterdam will be probably be $400/night vs. my whole siem reap stay in a spacious villa for the same price, or maybe i’m getting cabin fever.  i did go a little stir crazy this afternoon and spent a few minutes bouncing on the bed and kicking walter.  then i started having trouble breathing and had to stop.  it was pretty pathetic.  sometimes, i wonder what walter is thinking when things like that happen…
something else sad but true: food on the countries we’ve been to so far has been so salty that we’ve been going to mcdonald’s or burger king to find blander food.  we walked to the train station today and mercifully found a pizza/pasta bar.  it was actually pretty good and was one of our cheapest, fastest and lowest sodium meals so far.  after, we popped into the grocery store.  as soon as we entered, i was punched in the face by fresh-bread-smell.  holy shit.  it smelled like angels.  i sniffed around the bread stand, looking for the newborn yummies.  finally, i stuck my face into a bin of rolls covered in seeds and BAM.  heatwave.  usually, i not a fan of seeds but not a shit was given today.  i bagged one and started nibbling at it as it steamed up the bag.  it was DELICIOUS.
you know what else is delicious? MACADAMIA NUT BRITTLE HAAGEN DAZS ICE CREAM BARS.  we got a couple of these for the walk home.  often, the best things are discontinued or not even offered in america because most of america lacks taste buds. |:  anyway, we went to the market so that i could pick some delicious medovy dort (honey cake)!  i actually had a slice on the train into prague and fell in love.  they were actually quiet expensive (~$13) by prague standards, though each one was 800g which is… who knows how many pounds.  1.75?  don’t quote me.  i got the original flavor and another which seems to be choclate cake, honey and hazelnut.  I CANNOT WAIT TO EAT THEM.  i plan to lug these all over europe and into paris so that i can share it with my mommy and JUSTIN-BABI-HWANG who has officially booked his flight!  i have already decided that half of each cake in mines and walter, mommy and babi will have to figure out how to divide the rest.  arm wrestle?  battle of the wits?  rock paper scissor?  whichever path they choose, i will use as entertainment while i savor my 800grams (1.75lbs?) of medovy dort.
in other news, what you’ve all be waiting for!  i am slightly disappointed in my new shampoo.  i decided to finally spring for the kerastase nutritive line since i didn’t have time for a haircut before leaving and am toying with the idea of doing locks for love/short hair.  yet my hair is decidedly the same and no more fabulous than usual.  i guess i don’t have split ends, but i will really thinking that there’d be some kinda unicorn transformation. ):  maybe i needed to get the “rebellious” hair line?  either way, i think i’ll go back to using a mix of bumble&bumble (still pricey) and cheap japanese shampoos when i get home…
check please!
